We've had heaps of rain and cold winds in Gippsland, which could be frustrating unless like us, you're heading to the snow next week, so watching the snow report and seeing this rain translate to snow on the High Country is really thrilling.
Free guided singing practice opportunity - Morning Song

I’m really excited about Morning Song. It will be an opportunity for people to enjoy a guided singing practice. By doing the daily guided practice, you should see improved skill, confidence and enjoyment in your singing. The format is some relaxation, gentle movement, breathing, followed by singing exercises, then singing a song. It's on zoom, with audio off, so you can expore your voice in the privacy of your own home, and not feel judged by me or anyone else, because while you will be able to see and hear me for guidance, you won't hear anyone else and they won't hear you. At the end of each session, I'll invite a volunteer to come onto audio and either sing or talk about what they've done in the session. No pressure to do that, just an invitation. It’s aimed to give people access to developing their voice in a calm, fun, supportive environment and because it’s online, and in a group, I hope it will make it financially accessible to a lot of people. I'm running a trial August 24, 25 and 26. Because I'm trialling it's a freebie but you need to book in here If you can't come to these sessions but you're interested in doing some later, drop me a line or keep an eye on this newsletter. Once I launch it, the first one will run 3 mornings and one afternoon a week, so people in the Uk and Europe can join us, in a 6 week block. It will be recorded so people can replay it and use it in their own time. |

I had so much fun dancing with Invy Horn Jam at the Up The Creek concert with ACDC choir at Archies Creek a few weeks ago. It's not everyone's dream to dress up and be really silly on stage in front of people, for some people this is their version of hell. Strangely, it makes me really, really happy.
Each to their own.
The next day; complete shift of pace, I was singing jazz and blues in the lush surrounds of Inverloch RACV resort, on a Monday. Who'd a thunk it? The audience was beautiful and I really enjoyed it. Pic here is from the National Folk Festival in January. Archies Creek stage is a little smaller…
Music/recording
I've been busy with Roger and Laura, doing some recording and generally being in my happy place. Honestly, it was such a lovely smooth session, it was a dream.Which is appropriate as we were doing 50 Acres of Dreams… I'm also excited to be adding some piano accordion and saxaphone to some songs as we are joined by Angela Cassella!!
It’s been a busy few weeks with lots of music connections from the past coming into the fore. I was lucky enough to attend the Choir Of Hard Knocks 20th anniversary concert at the Palais on August 6, which was pretty amazing. There were guest spots from Missy Higgins, Bernard Fanning, Casey Donovan, Mark Seymour, Kate Miller Heidke. Like, really, it was wonderful. Also got to hang out with the old ABC crew I worked with 20 years ago. And there are some of the orignal singers and volunteers and it was very moving and remarkable. Where did those years go?

overdoing it again…..
Honestly I got so busy, I was a bit of a chaos maker.. Didn't mean it and thanks to all who picked up the pieces… Seriously, aren't friends the best? Honestly, dressing me, icing my burnt hand just before I went on stage… ia ia ia… Happilly I have resumed my yoga practice. And a more balanced approach to my days.
And… my cousin gave me a car!! What? Yep.
I've had a plan to get a new car and small caravan so I can do some country touring and the Godesses aligned and bam, I have a new (old) car. So now I'm looking for an Avan. I have a precise wishlist..
And I'll be travelling hopefully by mid october. If you're in southern NSW and you would like to host a workshop or house concert, let me know…
